Sam Labau
Born and raised on Koil Island in Papua New Guinea, Sam Labau is an experienced indigenous artist who specializes in traditional painting, carving and pottery.
In this tropical environment the majority of the inhabitants live largely traditional village lifestyles in agricultural societies.
Sam’s art has been a creative outlet that he has used to express his awe and admiration for the rugged landscape that is Papua New Guinea.
With many basic services lacking in terms of education, healthcare and infrastructure, Sam has a strong desire to create better opportunities for those in his community.
Sam would like to use his art to promote his culture and love for Papua New Guinea but also to draw tourism to his beautiful island. He hopes he can encourage other gifted local artists to promote their artwork too. His island is stunning with welcoming people and great experiences to share.
