HOW TO

MAKE A

TEAPOT

BASKET!

This Basket is made and found here in Papua New Guinea.

1. First you go into the jungle to collect kanda (cane)

2. Carry the kanda home and put in a bucket full of water. The water helps remove the hardened pieces making it easier to bend

3. Remove the outer layer and dry it under the sun for 3-7 days

4. Cover with vansin (lacquer) to make it smooth, shiny and easy to weave.
